Obituary of Pauline P. Whitten
Toulon – Pauline P. Whitten, 97, of Toulon, died at 3:55 a.m., Saturday July 17, 2010 at Toulon Health Care & Rehabilitation.
Pauline was born December 31, 1912 in Stark County, IL to Wm. Everett & Pearl Rice Price. She married Harry E. Whitten June 22, 1939, in Davenport, IA. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1984.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Sue Whitten and Sharon K. (Robert S.) Davis both of Toulon; two grandchildren, Deborah K. (John, Jr.) Ford, Robert E. (Jennifer) Davis both of Toulon. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren, Devin, Dylan, Drew & Donovan Ford of Toulon and Ian, Caleb, Kylee & Lexi Davis also of Toulon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters, Jennie May Schmidt, Mildred Price, and Jean Swan.
Pauline was a homemaker and farm wife who liked working outdoors. She played the organ for Toulon United Methodist Church in the early 1930’s. She also played at the West Jersey Methodist Church and various youth programs.
She was a member of the Toulon Unite Methodist Church, Essex Unit of Home Bureau, and an active member of the West Jersey PTA and served in various offices. She loved her family and in later years especially enjoyed having her great grandchildren visit.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday July 21, 2010 at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home in Toulon. Rev. Paul Wier will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery.
