Toulon – Ben C. “Curt” Parker, 73, of Toulon, died at 10:26 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at his residence, after a long battle with cancer.

 

Curt was born December 6, 1938, in Stockton, IL, the son of Ben Curtis and Florence Anne (Carpenter) Parker. He married Agnes Marie “Aggie” Munts on September 4, 1959, in Toulon. She survives along with one daughter, Cheryl Parker Nance (and Rick Nance) of St. Charles, IL; one son, Philip Parker (and John B. Hamilton) of Santa Fe, NM; two grandchildren, Parker and Evan Nance; four sisters, Joyce (and Armond) Sloan of Princeville, Nancy Rollins of Altona, IL, Patricia (and Tony) Chapman of Morton, IL, and Judy Gossett of Park City, KY; and two brothers, Gerald (and Carol Ann) Parker of Mattoon, IL, and Richard (and Regina) Parker of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edmund Parker.

 

Curt worked as a pipe fitter for Caterpillar for 39 years retiring in 2004. He was a volunteer firefighter for Toulon Fire Department for over 45 years, a member of the Stark County Historical Society, and an active member of the Toulon United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees/boards and sang in the choir. Curt also was an avid woodworker.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Toulon Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Wier officiating. Visitation for Curt will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the funeral service and burial of ashes will take place at Toulon Cemetery later in the week.
