Obituary of William Frederick Collins, Jr.
Toulon – William Frederick Collins, Jr., 92 passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011, in Hagerstown, MD.
He was born on Wednesday, March 26, 1919, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late William Frederick Collins, Sr. and the late Helen Higgins Collins.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Norma Aguglia Collins of Hagerstown, MD; nine children, William (Jennifer) Collins of North Attleboro, MA, Ronald (Luz) Collins of Denver, CO, Roger (Ellen) Collins of Hagerstown, MD, Richard (Barbara) Collins of Toulon, IL, Carolyn (Jorge) Gonzalez of St. Louis, MO, Cathleen (Javier) Cervin of San Diego, CA, Norman (Cindy) Collins of Mesa, AZ, Nicolas Collins of Mesa, AZ, and Connie (Bill) Eggert of Fountain Hills, AZ; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
William attended Lane Technical High School and the University of Chicago in Chicago. He served with the U.S. Marines in World War II. He was employed as chief engineer at International Harvester Company for many years, and later was owner of Collins Implement Company in Toulon. He was the holder of 48 patents with IHC for farm machinery. He was an avid golfer with several hole-in-ones at Midland Country Club.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Toulon Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at the funeral home. Internment of ashes will follow memorial service at Toulon Cemetery.
